Unique biking experiences in the Wildschönau
Start the day with a delicious breakfast at our aparthotel before setting off on a bike tour through the beautiful countryside. A network of cycle paths winding through the breathtaking alpine landscape offers tours for all levels of ability. If you want to feel the full adrenaline rush while cycling, ride from valley to valley on the so-called Bikeschaukel Tirol and enjoy views of the Kitzbühel Alps, the Brixental Valley, the Wilder Kaiser and the main Alpine ridge. If, on the other hand, you want to take it easy on vacation, you will get your money’s worth on moderate routes and can use the cable cars in the region free of charge thanks to the Wildschönau Card. This means you can enjoy maximum comfort on both the Schatzberg and the Markbachjoch and simply transport your bike in the gondola to set off with the most beautiful views.

Roggenboden-Holzalm: From Roggenboden via Horler Stiege to Holzalm.

Niederau – Markbachjoch – Penning – Hopfgarten – Niederau: From Niederau, the tour leads uphill to the Norderbergalm and on to the Markbachjoch. You can refresh yourself at the Markbachjochalm and Rübezahlhütte.

Niederau – Möslalm – Niederau: A beautiful drive into the Inn Valley from Niederau Wildschönau.

Schatzberg circuit: Via Mühltal and Thierbach to the Schatzbergalm, Gipfö Hit and via Gernalm, Aschbachweg back to the valley.

Top cycle tours
Cycling in the Wildschönau in Tyrol is varied and in summer there are numerous attractive cycle routes that offer impressive views, nature experiences and refreshment stops. We would like to highlight three tours in particular.
Niederau-Markbachjoch-Circuit: This varied circular tour takes you 627 meters up to the Norderbergalm and then on to the Markbachjoch at 1440 meters. Then it’s back down to the starting point.
2-valley tour: The tour starts at the outdoor pool in Oberau and leads via Roggenboden and the farms of Schrattenthal to Auffach. There you take the gondola to the Schatzberg, where the bike tour into the Alpbachtal starts. The route then leads past Alpbach, the Bischoferalm and the Hauserjoch back to the Wildschönau. You can take a break at the Holzalm. The route continues through the picturesque village of Thierbach, via Mühltal back to Oberau. Thierbach is also worth a trip in its own right.
Zauberwinkelweg to Wörgl: Take route 355 in the direction of Zauberwinkel for about 3 kilometers. After the Fuchsluag house and a small chapel, turn right onto a forest path. This leads over steep serpentines to the town of Wörgl, where there are numerous other biking opportunities in the surrounding area.
Mountain Bike Safari Wildschönau
In addition to day tours, Tirol also has an exciting multi-day tour to offer. The so-called Mountain Bike Safari (“Bikeschaukel”) covers 780 kilometers and 32,000 meters of altitude and leads from Nauders to St. Johann in Tirol right through the “Heart of the Alps”. Mountain bikers cycle through the Wildschönau region on 2 of the 16 stages. The first Wildschönau tour (13th stage of the Mountain Bike Safari) leads from Alpbach to Niederau and reveals magnificent views of the Kitzbühel Alps and the Wilder Kaiser over 33.7 kilometers and 990 meters of altitude. The second tour (14th stage of the Mountain Bike Safari) takes cyclists from Niederau to Kirchberg. There are 45.5 kilometers and 1000 meters of altitude to conquer. The varied route offers cyclists a magnificent panoramic view of the Brixental Valley, the Wilder Kaiser and the main Alpine ridge.

Bike garage in our aparthotel
Bikes don’t have to stay outside with us. In summer, our ski stall is converted into a practical bike garage, complete with special charging stations for e-bikes. Here you can store your bikes safely and charge your e-bike batteries at the same time. This makes cycling on vacation a real pleasure!
